Abbey Studios School of Photography

Peak District Landscape and Digital Photography Courses.

3 Day Landscape and  Digital Photography.

Experienced professional photographer and tutor, Graham Light LBIPP will take you through the basics of digital imaging and capture, including the various controls and settings on your cameras to ensure you know how to use them to your advantage enabling you to capture quality images of this fantastic landscape.
We use Nikon equipment, but have knowledge of the majority of cameras on the market. It is essential that you do bring your handbooks with you as each manufacturer has it’s own peculiar way of changing menus.!

We will take advantage of this beautiful area and find good vantage points for you to start capturing your images. We will guide you through the whole aspect of composition, using the light, filters, types of lenses, depth of field, file formats etc. and will be on hand to assist you as required. You will have plenty of opportunity for questions and one to one discussion with your tutor. You will have professional guidance on what makes a good photograph, looking at composition, exposure, making the most of the light etc.etc. Graham sells many of his images via Photo Libraries, so he will have first hand experience of images that sell.

On returning to our base we will download images and assess them, and look at file handling, storage etc. We will spend some time ( mainly on the third day ) looking at image manipulation using Photoshop CS2/3 as our basic program. Looking at such things as curves, levels , colour correction, conversion to Black & White, layers, cropping etc.

These courses will be very practical and are aimed specifically at ensuring you continue to enjoy your photography both as a hobby and possibly as a way to generate income.

Equipment etc. recommended: Digital camera and manual ( Film cameras are also welcome ), tripod or mono pod if you have one (we will have a couple available to borrow if you don’t).
